In what certainly feels like the collapse of diplomacy in the Middle East and the run-up to war with Iran, it’s understandable that we might grasp at any news that one side or the other wants some resolution that doesn’t go as far as launching missiles and killing civilians. But that kind of news is hard to come by, what with former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley lying about Democrats “mourning the death of a terrorist” and the Secretary of State smirking his way through a press conference in which reporters repeatedly asked what the “imminent threat” was that Trump eliminated by ordering the strike on Qassem Soleimani.
