First Five Jund Commander Cards to Consider That Will Melt Your Face Off

First Five Jund Commander Cards to Consider That Will Melt Your Face Off Hello, and welcome to the Day!

In this video, Jake and Joel go over the first 5 cards to consider, when building your Jund Commander deck. Jund is a Shard (3-color wedge) that originated in Alara Block in October of 2008. The Shard is based in Red, and pulls its support from Black and Green. The creatures of Jund are known for their freedom; any creature can do what it wants to do. Think of it like the Guild Rakdos (known for chaos) in the Jungle. Think of the Jund shard when you are building a truly savage deck that takes no prisoners. Shards, or wedges, are the 3-color combinations of the colors of Magic: The Gathering.

In total there are 10 shards:

Originated in Khans of Tarkir:
Abzan (White, Black, Green)
Jeskai (White, Red, Blue)
Mardu (White, Red, Black)
Temur (Red, Blue, Green)
Sultai (Blue, Green, Black)

Originated in Alara Block:
Jund (Green, Red, Black)
Esper (White, Black, Blue)
Grixis (Red, Black, Blue)
Bant (White, Green, Blue)
Naya (White, Green, Red)

What is Commander:
Commander, officially recognized on June 17, 2011, originated from a format called EDH (Elder Dragon Highlander-- there can only be one). The first time we played EDH was around 2009. It is easily the best way to play Magic: The Gathering. The idea was to have a casual format with 100 cards and only a single copy of any one card, with a General: a singular Legendary Creature card in its own zone that can be cast any time, once you have the mana for it. If your general is removed, it goes up by a casting cost of 2 for each time it is removed. Once WOTC officially recognized the format and printed the first Commander product, your General was instead called your Commander and instead of the format being called EDH, it instead became recognized as Commander. If you ever hear anyone say EDH, they are talking about Commander. Make sure to know the cards that are banned in the format before building your deck (listed below).
