Opposition slams new EC and police requirement for permits, to challenge in court

Opposition lawmakers claimed that the Election Commission’s (EC) decision on requiring permits for walkabout and door-to-door campaign is against the election law.

Opposition chief Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob told a press conference on Wednesday that they will bring the issue up for debate in Parliament on Thursday.

He said the matter will be brought to court after the Tanjung Piai by-election.
