The combustion chambers in oil burners naturaly get dirty from all that soot comming out of the burn, so every now and then they need a clean up, and that's what I talk about in this vedeo. A simple cleaning of the internals of a combustion chaber of an oil burner.
Usualy the most soot will be concentrated inside the tubes and the retarders, and that's where you should focus. A simple cleaning by scrubing with a wire brush is all it takes to remove that soot and have the tubes clean and ready to go. You can use a vaccum or a brush to remove the residue.Realy simple job that can be done by anyone.
Now regarding the rest of the service on the burner, the regulation of the mixture and emissions check, fuel line checks and all that, it is allways a good idea to have a certified technitian look at them and have your burner in tip top shape for the winter.
Besides, an abnormaly sooty chamber may indicate a wrong setting in the air/fuel mixture, which will be tackled by the teck guy.
The back of the chamber doesn't get that sooty, so it doesn't need cleaning so often, and regarding the flue pipe, if it's not insulated, it may need cleaning roughly every 3 years, depending on the make model of the burner.
NOTE:
Oil burners come in many shapes and sizes and there is a wide range of burners to cover every need, so keep in mind that this is just a simple demonstration of a simple cleaning job.
YOUR burner may be different.
