Can Your Gut Bacteria Determine Your Risk of Breast Cancer?

Can Your Gut Bacteria Determine Your Risk of Breast Cancer? This week on The Doctor’s Farmacy, Dr. Elizabeth Boham joins me to discuss how healing can happen when you get to the root cause of disease.

In our conversation, Dr. Boham and I dive into her personal experience of beating breast cancer. Even though she thought she was already caring for her body pretty well, she came to find out that hormonal imbalances, impaired detoxification, and gut imbalances due to years of antibiotic overuse had made her body more susceptible to disease. We talk about using food as medicine and Dr. Boham sheds light on the power of broccoli and a compound called sulforaphane when it comes to fighting cancer.

Dr. Boham is a physician and nutritionist who practices Functional Medicine as part of my team at The UltraWellness Center in Lenox, MA. Through her practice and lecturing, she has helped thousands of people achieve their wellness goals. She is part of the faculty of the Institute for Functional Medicine and has been featured on the Dr. Oz show and in a variety of publications and media including Huffington Post, The Chalkboard Magazine, and Experience Life. Her DVD Breast Wellness: Tools to Prevent and Heal from Breast Cancer explores the Functional Medicine approach to keeping your breasts and whole body well, a topic she is passionate about as a breast cancer survivor.
