Yocheved Sidof - Checking The One Box That Truly Matters

Yocheved is the Founder or Lamplighters Yeshiva, a Jewish Day School in Brooklyn charged with the mission to create a safe, loving environment for their students - and serve as a model institution for others as well.

In 2010, Yocheved, or Elham as you will hear in her story, embarked on an extremely ambitious endeavor - introducing the Chabad community of Crown Heights to a new paradigm in Jewish education where Montessori methodology is fused with age old Hasidic and Jewish wisdom to create a space where every child feels safe, nurtured and loved.

Beginning very humbly, Lamplighters has flourished into one of the most well known Jewish schools and has inspired new schools all over the world to open their doors and create a space where children in their community feel that same safety, nurture and love.

All who know Yocheved, know her to be overflowing with energy, passion and creativity. Her passion has forever changed her community; she has put an indelible mark on it by challenging educational norms in a way that has not been done for centuries.
