Judge Not, Those who pass judgement will be judged.

Judge Not, Those who pass judgement will be judged. 90 & Out is a 90 second video commentary on a passage from the Christian Bible. Episode 21 comes from Matthew 7:1-2 from the New King James Version.

Jesus of Nazareth continues his famous Sermon on the Mount at the beginning of chapter 7. "Judge not, lest ye be judged" (v. 1 KJV). Often, this is all that is quoted from the section. It seems that people conveniently leave out the rest of his statement. Many times, I hear people use this scripture to justify all kinds of sinful actions, and they follow it up with, "God judges their hearts and we aren't supposed to judge". I'm sure anyone who views this video or reads this description has heard this statement or some variation to it at some point time. God judges people's hearts. However, we are to judge the fruits of people's lives.
If we don't judge because we are scared that we are going to be judged, then we aren't living a righteous life before God. This statement has more to do with hypocrisy than that of judging others. Throughout chapter 6, Jesus instructs his disciples to not be like the hypocrites. At the beginning of each point he says don't be like the hypocrites. The beginning of chapter 7 is the same format. He's saying don't be like those judgemental hypocrites.
Immediately follows this up with a call to judgment. This call the Judgment includes a call to authenticity. The standard we use to judge is going to be the standard that is used against us. When we use unrighteous judgement against someone else, it will always backfire against us.
Who can stand before the righteous judge? No one save Jesus of Nazareth. Who can stand before the righteous judge sinless and blameless? No one save Jesus of Nazareth.
As Saul of Tarsus will later right, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord Christ." (Rom 3:23, Rom. 6:23 NKJV)

Please accept the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
