Younker's Sweet French Dressing
1 C. sugar
1/2 C. white vinegar
1/2 C. salad oil
1 medium sized onion, finely grated
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. celery salt
Put sugar and vinegar in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 2 1/2 minutes or until sugar dissolves when stirred. Put the rest of the ingredients with vinegar and sugar in a jar with a tight fitting lid and shake until combined. Chill. Shake before using. Good on melon salad. Also good on orange and grapefruit supremes, avocado, strawberries and regular salad greens.
Red wine vinegar vinaigrette dressing
1 1/2 C. sugar
1 C. red wine vinegar
1 C. vegetable oil
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/4 tsp. garlic herb seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
combine all together in either a mixing bowl and whisk together or put in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid and shake to combine. Chill until ready to toss with spinach, strawberries and purple onion rings. Can also add cooked chicken, bacon, hard cooked egg, mushrooms.
Ranch dressing
Sour cream
dehydrated minced onion
garlic powder
dried or fresh dill weed
salt and pepper to taste
water to thin down a little
Serve with chips and crudites as a ranch dip or with your favorite greens on salad.
Honey Mustard dressing
approximately 2-3 tsp. of dijon, honey mustard, whole grain or spicy mustard
about the same amount of honey
about 1-2 T. of apple cider vinegar
Add about 1/2 C. of vegetable oil
whisk together until emulsified and serve over greens. Black olives, pickled beets and marinated artichoke hearts make good toppings. Also croutons and french fried crispy onions.
