Do you lose things?
Are you impulsive?
Do you interrupt people?
Are you forgetful?
Do you have the feeling that you aren’t living up to your potential?
Everyone experiences these things at one time or another, but people with ADHD experience these problems on a daily basis.
ADHD is reported to occur in 4.4% of the adult population in the United States, although the figure is underreported, as up to 85% of children with ADHD are at risk for having the disorder as an adult and only 10.9% with ADHD receive treatment.
ADHD looks different for each individual. Sometimes the biggest issue that someone faces is difficulty maintaining long term friendships, sometimes it’s impulsivity or mood swings. But whatever you or family member might be facing there is help through counseling, medication, and sometimes coaching.
It’s important to remember the assets you have as someone with ADHD.
You are most likely creative, have the ability to think outside the box, the ability to focus on something you are interested in, a good sense of humor, ability to let go of grudges, energetic, spontaneous, and inventive.
Let’s remember what God says about us in Ephesians 2:10…
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
