Boris Johnson brutally rejects renewed SNP calls for Scottish referendum: Stop breaking up the union UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has held his first Prime Minister's Questions of the new year.

The SNP's Ian Blackford raised the issue of a further referendum on Scottish independence, but Prime Minister Johnson said it was just a distraction from the party's performance in government in Scotland

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has repeatedly demanded the Prime Minister give the Scottish Parliament permission to hold a new independence referendum in 2021.

In a heated exchange during PMQs, Mr Johnson brutally rejected Mr Blackford's request.

The Prime Minister told Ian Blackford: "Concentrate on what you are doing and stop going on about breaking up the union."
