The United States has said that it is concerned about the implications of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in India. Sam Brownback, Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom tweeted that the US hoped the Indian government will abide by its constitutional commitments, including on religious freedom. The statement comes days before next week's 2+2 ministerial between India and the US, which External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend in Washington.
