What was the patient’s problem?

This patient had two large keloids or hypertrophic scars in the left cheek region beneath the ear lobe. It had been treated three times earlier in other hospitals in South India - but it had not regressed and had grown back. The scar was thick and non tender.

What problem was the keloid scar causing her?

Along with the fact that it was a social embarrassment for her, she also had severe itching in the region. She had tried several injections / surgery / creams earlier in other hospitals but to no avail.

How was the surgery done?
It was a daycare surgery, done under local Anesthesia in the operation theatre with an anesthesiologist in one hour.
The patient was in the recovery for further 4 hours and then was sent home. The patient was put on antibiotics and analgesics for a few days.
The patient is recalled back on day 5 for suture removal, even though rapide was used.
