Twins with autism keep on dancing

Keanen and Keion Evans are the star mascots at Winship Middle School in Eureka. But there was a time when the twins could not be in a gym, let alone perform a high volume dance routine. Diagnosed with autism, Keanen and Keion have struggled with social interactions, sensory issues and language development. But thanks to early intervention and dedicated educators in Eureka City Schools, the twins are blossoming. Congrats to Keanen and Keion for winning the ACSA Region 1 Every Student Succeeding award!

“These boys have come from being non-verbal to coming out of their shells and just really having that student body and staff from each school wrap around them and accept them,” said Faye Prudhomme, the twins’ mother. “I’m going to keep encouraging them to reach beyond the stars.”
