Pioneer Cards from Eldritch Moon That You May Want to Keep an Eye On

Pioneer Cards from Eldritch Moon That You May Want to Keep an Eye On Like Shadows Over Innistrad, Eldritch Moon is home to many powerful spells. From Liliana the Last Hope, to Emrakul the Promised End, the set offers a collective brutality of powerful cardboard. But we aren't talking about the heavy hitters in our Pioneer Sleeper Series, instead we focus on the cards that players may be sleeping on. Keep in mind as we evaluate these cards, that Shadows Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon came in the wake of a lot of wallet fatigue and were opened less than Battle and Oath, which were each opened in mass, so it is easy to guess that there is likely less supply. Spirits have been a presence in modern. Will they become viable in Pioneer?

In this episode, Jake and Joel go over the cards in Eldritch Moon, that may impact Magic: The Gathering's newest format, Pioneer! On October 21, 2019, Wizards of the Coast announced Pioneer, a new eternal, non-rotating format-- a "post-modern" format starting with Return to Ravnica. This format, likely a response to the price barrier of Modern and Legacy, would ban fetch lands (an expensive crux and format staple of Modern and Legacy) from the start, likely leading to a less expensive and therefore more accessible meta for new players and old, all while giving new life to a bunch of otherwise forgotten-about cardboard.
