Self-Centered and Puffed Up - Isaiah 3:16-28 (10-9-2019 Wednesday)

Self-Centered and Puffed Up - Isaiah 3:16-28 (10-9-2019 Wednesday) "Moreover the LORD says: “Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, Walking and mincing as they go, making a jingling with their feet," Isaiah 3:16

We know that the word haughty means to be puffed up with pride, and the term outstretched neck means to extend their neck out with their head tilted upward, looking down upon others. Walking and mincing means they trip along as they go with short steps. The jingling with their feet meant that they would wear anklet decorations that would make noise as they walked along. This picture is one of a proud woman that looks good, and knows it. They would dress in the finest clothes, and wear all the latest jewelry. They want to draw attention to themselves. One Commentator said:

“So self-centered and puffed up were these women, that they were only concerned to call attention to themselves. When the women of a nation have turned to such an extent away from God, the end of that nation cannot be far away.”

Why would the women be so self-centered? They were led that way by the men who turned from the Lord, and they followed suit. This world we live in stands against all that the Lord represents.
