Artist Katrin Hornek gives a lecture-performance playfully drawing on much of her artistic research and collaboration relating to the environmental, political and societal impact of CO2 emissions. "Casting Haze" (2018-2030) is the title of her multimedia installation in the exhibition "Hysterical Mining" 29/5 – 6/10 2019. The installation is representative of her long term project with scientists based on CO2 mineralization technologies, examining their geographies, economies, industrial entanglement and philosophical grounding. Hornek elaborates on her plans to realise a fourteen kilogram sculpture/prize from air or water-based mineralization technologies called Atmosphere– The Decarbonization Trophy. Aspects of Hornek’s practice – which addresses the processes of capitalism and extractivism – will surface in her lecture, bringing to light the physical problems of the material world.
