Japan's Nagi town bucking the national trend of low birth rates

Japan's Nagi town bucking the national trend of low birth rates The number of babies born in Japan is declining faster than expected. However, Nagi has shown that it is possible to stem the trend, even if it takes the entire town to do it. The town in western Japan is reaping the fruits of its efforts to boost its birth rate that started more than a decade ago. Couples get a payout of up to US$3,800 for their newborns. Healthcare is free for residents until they are 18. Education is subsidised, and the more children a family has, the more subsidy it gets.
