Although this sansui AU-X711 and his bigger brother the sansui AU-X911DG are already 30 years old, I didn't heard a better sounding amplifier up till $3000 now new in the shops. I never did a direct test with more expensive amplifiers but the ones under $3000 I heard where obviously no match at all. This sansui line was one of sansui's latest top amplifiers. Sansui was with some of there amplifiers on the same level as Accuphase. Accuphase only made high end and beside high end sansui also made cheaper models. When you ever have the opportunity to hear the sansui sound you will be overwhelmed by it. Second hand you can buy these, for example this aux711 ore au-x911, between 500 and 700 euro but the sound they deliver outmatch easy every sound you can buy now in the shop up till $3000. The denon's, onkyo's, Yamaha's etc. etc, what you can buy now new in the shops up till $3000 euro are sound-wise no match for these sansui's. The moment you buy a sansui and you don't want to spend more as $1000 you will never change it for something else. After all these years and robot factories they still can't duplicate the sansui sound end sell it under $3000.... My sansui G-901DB(sansui G-9000) sound even better as these 2 but that one is a 2x160w machine and second hand far over $1000 these days. ...I don't like every sansui line for the sound, the au-317 was not my taste but that's also not a top of the line amp. The au-X901 I loved very much but sold it because of the 2 big scratches on the front plate. As soon as the 911 arrive I will hook it up and it will always stay in my house.
