Raw video: University of Houston residence hall flood

Raw video from Snapchat user "Tony_Alebesun" shows water flooding the floor of a residence hall at the University of Houston and students standing outside in the middle of the night.

A university spokesman said at around 4:15 a.m. an HVAC system in Cougar Village 2 malfunctioned, causing flooding on the first floor of the residence hall. No student rooms were impacted (no residents live on the first floor). A fire alarm prompted approximately 40 students to evacuate as a safety precaution but they returned to their rooms within an hour.
