This is to my hardworking parents! Especially dedicated to my Dad. You finished a Valedictorian in Science and Engineering. Had a stable job with the government in the Philippines. Building houses, bridges and other building constructions all around Negros Occidental and Oriental.
But almost 15 years ago, you took a leap of faith, you left your job, family, friends and love ones in the Philippines to come to Australia. Had no financial stability, no stable job, no relatives, not fluent with the English language. You had to start from scratch.
You endured the difficulties of starting a new life in a foreign country that you’ve never been before. I salute you, you brought your determination, heart and pride to provide for your family. You held your ground, you held your wisdom and faith and you held them strong.
Now, almost 10 years later... you have a stable job, you took us in, you provide a roof over our heads, but you’re also growing old. Time is getting the best out of you, all your joints are catching up from all the hard labour. I still salute you, my respect for you and mama grow each time I achieve a milestone in my life. As I grow as my own person, I am made aware of the hard work and dedication it takes to achieve your goals.
I’ll definitely work harder! This is only the first step, next chapter is hopefully a Bachelor in Interior Architecture. Praying that my feet will keep soldiering on. My goal is to become the next Engineer Gasataya, in our family.
