Even At Healthy Weights, Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders At Far Greater Risk For Diabetes

Even At Healthy Weights, Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders At Far Greater Risk For Diabetes UPI reports people from minority groups with a normal body mass index are still at high risk for diabetes.
Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders are more than three times as likely to develop type 2 diabetes as whites with a normal BMI.
According to UPI, overall, researchers at Kaiser Permanente say the group has an 18 percent risk of Type 2 diabetes.
The researchers couldn't find any differences in income and education levels that accounted for the racial and ethnic differences.
