Appalachian Bear Rescue: The Class of 2019

Appalachian Bear Rescue: The Class of 2019 ABR chose January 22 as the “official” birthdate for all bears who come to us. We celebrate Cubby Birthday every month because each one is a miracle and a milestone for our orphaned residents. Delia and Matt Hills of M&D Hills Photography created this wonderful overview of ABR’s Class of 2019 for our Bear Necessities event. It features our four yearlings, now back in the wild, and our ten resident cubs. It couldn’t be a more fitting tribute to our little bears on their eight-month birthday, or to our released yearlings who turn twenty months old today. To Boudreaux, Beignet, Bluebeary, Blackbeary, Hucklebeary, Jessamine, Dandelion, Bentley, Bluebelle, and Marigold, and to our yearlings, Hartley, Sweetie, Daffodil, and Iris, we wish you a very Happy Birthday. We also remember the two little bears not featured in this video, Oliver and Tulip, whose rescue came too late. Thank you, Delia and Matt, for the best Cubby Birthday present!

Appalachian Bear Rescue (ABR), founded in 1996, is located just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Townsend, Tennessee. It is a rehabilitation center for orphaned and injured black bear cubs, two years of age or younger, with the goal to release them back to the wild as soon as possible.
