The Most Effective Decision Making Process

The Most Effective Decision Making Process In this video I’m going to share with you the most effective decision making process I’ve ever come across, which can be utilised either in business or really for any big decision in life.

1. Get clear on your outcome

A crucial decision making skill is to first of all get crystal clear about your intended outcome. This will immediately shift your mind into a “solution focused state”, instead of a “problem focused state”

2. What “pieces are in play”?

Then we need to start looking at the pieces that we have in play within our situation at the moment. It’s very easy to get caught up in doom and gloom thinking, and start seeing things for far worse than they are.

3. What are the “non-negotiables”?

When we’re clear about our current situation, we then need to get clear about the non-negotiables. Ask “If I had already succeeded, would doing X to get there have been worth it?” If the answer is “no”, then it’s truly a non-negotiable. If the answer’s “yes”, then it’s not truly a non-negotiable.

For example, you might ask “If I had already created time, financial and geographical freedom, would getting a £20,000 loan to get there have been worth it?” Quite obviously the answer’s yes; because paying £20,000 to never have to worry about money again is a complete no-brainer. So therefore, “getting a loan” is not a true non-negotiable. It’s just that we’re scared of doing it because we’re perceiving it as a risk.

4. If I had a crystal ball, what would I do?

Finally, we ask ourselves what we would do if we had a crystal ball and we knew our success was guaranteed.

Then whatever we would do if there was no risk, those are the actions that we need to take. Because different actions lead to different results. So if we’re not taking “crystal ball actions” because of fear, we’re not going to manifest the “crystal ball result”. We’re going to create the result that’s influenced by the fear - in other words; the very thing we’re fearing.

Once you’re clear about the above, it’s just a case of facing the fear and taking action. We know what we need to do, it’s time to be brave and do it.
