Members of Parliament have expressed dismay at a supreme court ruling barring them from increasing their emoluments. However, they say the ruling refers to an issue that has already been resolved. In the ruling. the four justices of the Supreme Court declared section 5 of the Parliament act that allows members of parliament to determine their emoluments null and void The ruling further barred legislators from increasing their salaries without involvement of the executive.
