READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF KEEP AN EYE OUT: So when you first see this phrase, "...keep an eye out...", it can seem a little bit gross. It can seem a little bit strange because it doesn't actually mean you should have an eye out of your head. Ah! I don't even like saying that. But here's a little story that will help you understand it. Believe it or not, my house is usually quite messy and if we invite someone over we're usually cleaning the house quite frantically while we await their arrival. So let's imagine I've invited my Mom over. Jen would be frantically cleaning one of the rooms in the house. I would probably be quickly cleaning the bathrooms. And we would always, probably ask a kid to sit in the front room and keep an eye out for Grandma. This means, just kind of sit and watch and wait for her to arrive and then tell us.
