Boris Johnson (pictured during a visit to a prison in Leeds today) believes the European Union will cave in and offer a new Brexit deal at the eleventh hour because Ireland would be 'f****d' by a No Deal divorce, a Cabinet minister has claimed. Mr Johnson and the EU are locked in a state of Brexit stalemate over the Irish border backstop with the Prime Minister adamant he will not agree to a deal which includes the controversial protocol. But Leo Varadkar, the Irish PM, (pictured below earlier this month) has insisted along with the rest of the EU that the backstop is non-negotiable. The explosive No Deal comments came as a judge in Scotland gave the green light to a court case brought forward by Remainer MPs designed to stop Mr Johnson from forcing through a disorderly split by suspending parliament to proceed. A full hearing on the case will now take place on September 6. Meanwhile, Mr Johnson received a Brexit boost as US national security adviser John Bolton said he believed the two countries were on course for an 'unprecedented partnership' post-Brexit.
