HELP Rehabilitation Centre Details;
HELP Rehabilitation Centre was established in January, 2019.

Five recovering members who are now clean for over 10 years came together and launched this noble initiative as a way to show the way for other centres on how care can be given and recived to people who have been driven to substance abuse either voluntaryily or due to circumstances.

We were informed that when the board found out about how patients were beaten and physical abused as a means to treat them, they were disturbed and moved to launch “HELP”.

HELP, we are told is a venture that aspires to look beyond monetary gains and aims to set the bar for alcohol and substance dependency care. We also found out that they seem to be walking the talk.

A recent incident should help you form a better picture of what and how HELP is operating. On 26th June, which is the ‘International Day Against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking, the Siliguri Police held an open to all advocacy function where all the rehabilitation centres were sent an invitation. The invitation was also extended to at least 5 patients of each centre.
While most centres were apprehensive and worried about taking their patients to attend the function for fear of them escaping and running away, the patients undergoing treatment at HELP(15 of them), not only did they attend the function, but they performed a skit there and after the program ended, they availed themselves of the public transport (Toh-toh, city bus) and found their ‘own’ way to the centre; while patients of other centres were transported back to their centres under tight security even before the function’s conclusion.

The Centre currently has 45 patients under the care of their 10 staff.

Every Monday has been a Jangsem Monday since the centre was launched and we are very happy to welcome HELP Rehabilitation Centre on board the #jmExpress for the way the run their Centre, #theJMway
