On June 3, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced his government's intention to allow women to travel for free in the Delhi metro and state-run buses. Kejriwal said the scheme should be up and running by August-September this year and is part of his government's efforts to encourage the use of public transport and make the city safer for its women.
