President Rodrigo Roa Duterte assembled with fellow Member Leaders for the Opening Ceremony of the 34th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Summit Chair and Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha led the opening ceremony of the 34th ASEAN Summit and the launching of the ASEAN Satellite Warehouse that would speed up emergency response especially to disaster-prone countries of the regional bloc.
The ASEAN Leaders were also treated to traditional Thai cultural dances and puppet show during the event, ensuing to the linking of hands by the Leaders for the 'ASEAN-Way' photo opportunity.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, flanked between State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore, was seen assisting State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad of Malaysia during the gesture as he bridged the gap that separates them from the other Leaders.
The 'ASEAN-Way' gesture is a tradition during the Summit that symbolizes unity and cooperation between the leaders of the 10-member regional bloc.
