Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a huge rebuilding job on his hands this summer after seeing his team fall well off the pace since he took over. The Red Devils could only finish sixth in the Premier League this season, meaning they will miss out on Champions League football next time around. Wan-Bissaka, 21, enjoyed a superb first full season at Selhurst Park, making 39 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles. The performances put in by the young right-back has seen him linked with a number of elite clubs, including Manchester United. It was believed that United had tabled an initial £25m for the defender which was rejected. But according to Sky Sports, they have upped their bid to a “substantial” one in order to try and get the deal done. Crystal Palace are believed to want somewhere in the region of £50m for Wan-Bissaka. He has three years remaining on his contract and the London club do not want to sell, but their resolve could be tested by a big offer. United have already agreed “in principle” to sign Swansea City winger Daniel James for a fee said to be £18m. The 21-year-old has completed a medical and will become Solskjaer's first signing since succeeding Jose Mourinho as manager at Old Trafford. The deal is expected to go through when Fifa's international transfer window opens next week. Speaking about Wan-Bissaka potentially joining Manchester United, Gary Neville, who played in his position for over a decade at the club, said he is a hugely talented player. “He’s a massive talent and the club, to be fair, have always signed young, emerging British talent,” he said. “I don’t think that should change and it would seem to me that the club would like to go back down that route and he is one. “The price is always going to be big because clubs are wise now to it, you can’t pinch players off clubs for £5m or £6m. “They are wise to it and have the Premier League funding of £100-odd million so they don’t need to panic, they don’t need extra £5m or £10m – they want £50m or £60m.”
