Our defence industry is experiencing significant delays in the processing of export permits necessary to sell military products to NATO Allies and other countries on the automatic firearms country control list (AFCCL). Canada needs a strong Defence Industry to safeguard Canada's security at home and with 80% of its revenue driven by exports, approval of export permits is essential for the Defence Industry to thrive and grow. With over $1B annually at stake it is critical that the Minister of Foreign Affairs commit to delivering an effective, efficient and timely export permit process to ensure the health of our Defence industry and the continued success of our Canadian economy.
