Delicate Demolition

Delicate Demolition We have started working on the central room in our basement. We would like to transform this room into a comfortable family room. The first project is to remove a bench along the outer wall of the basement and patch the wall with wood paneling to match the rest of the basement. I like to do the demo work in a very careful and measured way. I think one should take the same care pulling something apart that they take putting something together. I find I use a crowbar and leverage to pull things apart when doing demo work as opposed to hitting things with a sledgehammer. Doing things carefully and thoughtfully cuts down on the dust produced by disassembly. It also allows you to save many of the parts of the thing that you're disassembling for use in another project. Plus, it's a lot easier than swinging a sledgehammer. Now we can get to the work of redoing our new family room.
