This as thousand of ultra-runners take part in the 94th edition of the Comrades ultra-marathon.
The uprun will see runners negotiate five notorious hills between Durban and Pietermaritzburg in the 86.83 kilometres route.
Last year's race was won by Bongumusa Mthembu, who is gunning to win it this year for the third consecutive time.
