Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe Sudanese opposition movements called on the people to take to the streets and request a transitional civilian-led government, during a rally held in Khartoum on Sunday, after a military coup toppled former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11.
Opposition supporters took turns on stage and called on the people to continue protesting and demanded a civilian-led government and the end of the Military Council's rule, which they view as a continuation of Bashir's rule.
"The role of the armed forces is not to rule," said Mohammed al-Ameen from the stage. "We do not recognise any transitional authority, any coup authority."
For another protester speaking to the crowd, the upcoming government should know that "their rule came by blood and the blood is dearly paid, the blood is dearly paid, especially Sudanese blood."
The ruling military council, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has offered protesters concessions as a result of the mass demonstrations - reportedly removing a slew of officials with close ties with toppled president Omar al-Bashir.
