In a latest news report we have learned that a consumer forum penalized Bata for charging 3 rupees for a carry bag that had Bata's branding on it. The consumer tried to ask for a refund as it is not legal for a showroom to charge extra money for normal packaging. When the showroom refused to refund the amount, the consumer filed a complaint in consumer court qhich then directed Bata to pay 1000/- to the consumer as litigation fee, along with 3000/- as compensation for mental agony caused to him. Bata also had to refund 3/- to the customer.
